The superstars performed their top hits to the delight of their lovers.
Egyptian pop legend, Hani Shaker, and world-renowned Lebanese artist Wael Jassar wrapped one of the most culturally and musically enlivening nights in Sharjah, taking hundreds and thousands of fans into one of the most nostalgic and melodic experiences with their live performances.
In the emirate’s most popular waterfront venue, Al Majaz Amphitheater, the concert took place yesterday (Friday), marking the kick-off of Al Majaz Amphitheater’s roster of upcoming concerts, events and performances scheduled to take place in Sharjah for 2019.
One of the highlights of the evening is when crowds were surprised with a special duo performance by Hani Shaker and Wael Jassar, who both sang a cover song paying tribute to the great musician and artist Sayed Makkawi “Ma Tfotnesh ana Wahdi”.
“As an artist, one of the most beautiful experiences is to have the privilege of performing to a diverse set of audiences coming from different Arab and international countries. It was a true honor to celebrate a magical night in Sharjah yesterday, and to perform all types of songs that took the fans into a celebratory experience. It was also a memorable experience to have performed alongside Hani Shaker and to contribute in turning Al Majaz Amphitheater into one of the most livelihood hotspots of Sharjah and the UAE,” said Wael Jassar.
Known for his unique soothing voice, Jassar started the musical evening with selections from his musical repertoire that got audiences on their feet.
Marking his debut in Sharjah, Hani Shaker, widely known as ‘The Prince of Arab Singing’, captivated audiences with his signature compositions covering his world-renowned 40-year musical career.
“It was truly marvelous to share this unique energy with the fans, who came to Sharjah to attend and celebrate our concert at the amazing Al Majaz Amphitheatre. This unforgettable concert is definitely a first-of-its-kind for me in my career, especially sharing this joyous musically cultural experience along Wael Jassar, giving the crowds and the fans a memorable evening. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this evening the success that it is,” said Shaker.
During his set, Hani Shaker welcomed onto the stage and introduced Hamsa Arkan Fouad, a rising Egyptian singer and the daughter of Nadia Mustafa (a famous Egyptian actress) and Arkan Fouad (an Egyptian singer). The duo entertained the audience with a song titled “Ana Albi Leek”.
To the delight of the audience, Shaker performed live for the first time his song “Shukran” from his latest album in Sharjah.
The Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) and Chief Executive Officer of Al Majaz Amphitheatre, HE Tariq Saeed Allay thanked the artists for their outstanding performance and honoured them with Al Majaz Amphitheatre memorial shields.
Al-Majaz Amphitheater provided an opportunity for the audience to “Meet and Greet” with the artists Hani Shaker and Wael Jassar, where they had a chance to take their signature and a photo with them.
From January 25th to March 1st, the unique open-air theater will be hosting a series of live concerts by the most famous and popular Arab singers, including Ragheb Alama from Lebanon and Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf from Palestine; Nabeel Shuail from Kuwait and Eida Al Menhali from the UAE; and Majid Al Muhandis from Iraq and Nawal Al Zughbi from Lebanon.
Al Majaz Amphitheatre has successfully consolidated itself as one of Sharjah’s tourist and leisure destinations for organizing and hosting the most prominent cultural events and concerts that feature top singers and superstars from the Arab region and the world. Over the last two years, Al Majaz Amphitheatre hosted many music legends, including Yanni from Greece, Julio Iglesias from Spain, the British singer Emeli Sande, the British-Irish singer Chris De Burgh, as well as Arab superstars Mohammed Abdu, Marcel Khalifa, Assala Nasri, Majida Al Roumi and Balqees.
